I arrived in Alaska in July 4th 1988 with my twin brother, after growing up on a small rural farm in New York, where my parents still live and graduating college at Canton State. Since we were small, we wanted to go to Alaska for the adventures and to pursue outdoor dreams. It was originally to be for a semester at UAA, that turned into graduating with another degree in 1992, this one in Finance.
After graduating we decided to stay. I met a wonderful lady in college and asked her to marry me which she obliged. She has deep roots here, born and raised Alaskan and both her sets of Grandparents were pioneers here, “before statehood” coming from Idaho and New Mexico. Together we have raised 2 wonderful young adult children, one has pursued an automotive career as well and is working in Texas where we have some recreational land we enjoy in the winter, the other is in her last semester in college and will have a degree in International Finance and fluent in 3 languages.
I entered the car business in 1993 after “using my degree” to some extent after my brother and other friends were in it already and enjoying it. I have never looked back, its exciting, different everyday and unlike any other business that I come across, every day is truly different and challenging. Over the years I have been a Sales Person, Finance Manager, Sales Manager, Used Car Manager, Used Car Director and now I am privileged to be in the position I am and have reported to work to the same building for 18 years.
Overtime things change – change is the only constant, my favorite part of change, is watching growth in people; their personal lives and careers, if I can have a small part of helping them move forward, that is what I find truly find most rewarding. If we create an excellent place to work and grow, we will provide the best service and sales experience we can because we have great team mates which will create great customers, we can’t have one without the other. That is the true challenge-that is the true reward every day.
